Free Estimates
1. All of our services must first be initiated by completing our Free Estimate Request Form.2. We provide the free estimate as an early estimate of repair cost based off symptoms or wishes provided by the customer. Pictures and videos are always helpful, as this allows for us to get an even MORE accurate idea of what the job could entail before ever touching the light fixture.3. This is a "hands-off" estimate. After receiving the light fixture the estimated cost could go up or down.4. After completing the free estimate, the light is automatically documented in our logbooks to keep efficient and accurate tracking of every light that comes in for servicing.5. After The Salty Bean has been approved to work on the light based off the above mentioned estimate, there will be a repair service form to fill out before shipping to us.
Repairs
1. After completion of the repair service form we can accept shipment of the light and start working as soon as it is delivered.2. Immediately upon receiving the light we further diagnose the light to verify our estimate and make adjustments as necessary. This initial diagnostic inspection has a flat fee of $20.3. Our repairs and inspections are based off our 6 years of experience in the electronic circuit repair industry. Working on small consumer electronics to mission-critical industrial equipment worth up to 10.5 million.4. Not only do our repairs include major part replacement but also small component replacement. This however may increase the cost of repairs as it is extremely intricate work to replace small components on a circuit board.5. After completion of repairs all lights will receive a complimentary in-depth cleaning. This will ensure longevity of the light and repairs as well as establish a good base-line until the next cleaning.6. If interested in starting a repair, please click the Free Estimate button below!
Upgrades
1. All upgrades performed by The Salty Bean are purely up to the customer and will not be done without customer consent.2. We determined there were common failure points and weaknesses in certain model lights. We developed a way to resolve these issues I.E. cooling capability.3. Increasing the cooling capability of the light itself is one of the upgrades we can perform upon request. This upgrade resolves common "life-ending" failures like burning LEDs, over-heating, and produces a longer lasting light that can maintain a higher temperature for longer periods of time.4. Most lights are $20 - $40 for the cooling upgrade with some being more expensive.5. We also have determined some lights have a poorly designed seal. This allows for moisture intrusion, which affects the life and longevity of the internal electronics. Most lights will be ~$5 for the sealant upgrade.6. Some lights will require being re-sealed regardless due to manufacturer design. Orphek is one that requires re-sealing.7. If you're considering doing any kind of upgrade, let's get you started on the right foot. See the Free Estimate! button below to get started!
Cleanings
1. The Salty Bean is proud to state that every light we service will receive a complimentary cleaning before being returned to the customer.2. We also offer a standard cleaning service and a monthly cleaning service program to our customers. If your light is in perfect working order but needs a good cleaning, we have you covered!3. We receive your light once a month and give it a quick brush-up, inspection, and test to verify it's condition and get a head start on any possible faults starting to arise.4. A special offer to our local customers( 70 miles or 1 hour drive from business location, whichever is greater) We will happily come to you and clean your lights on-site!5. If interested in our cleaning services, please click the link in the button above!6. This cleaning service is designed to be preventative not corrective. However, we are not afraid of your "over-grown dust bunnies".7. Cleanings will only include dust, debris and light corrosion removal. These cleaning costs will vary from light to light based off of size. Most lights will only cost $20 per light.8. If you are requesting a more-intense cleaning, like rust and heavy corrosion removal, that will be covered by our "Refurbishments" tab just below.9. If interested in our cleaning services, please click the link in the button below!
Refurbishments
1. Refurbishments are considered repair work. Thus requiring a Free Estimate Form and Work Request Form.2. This is due to how in-depth this process can become. Most refurbishments of lights require tearing the light down fully and to each of its individual main circuit boards and parts.3. Refurbishment cost will vary from light to light and whether or not any parts need replacing.4. On average, a refurbishment with no parts replaced will cost about $80. This would include a full cleaning, rust removal, corrosion removal, and rust/corrosion prevention measures. Should any parts need replacing, this will raise the total cost of the refurbishment.5. We also can provide re-painting of refurbished and restored models. Even to a color of your choice!6. Most re-furbished products will be considered no higher than Code B after completion.7. Let's get your light back over that tank making your smile shine bright! See Free Estimate! below.
Restorations
1. Our restorations are similar to refurbishments but rather than keeping most of the equipment original, these would be considered complete over-hauls.2. This would require severe rust, corrosion, and replacement of multiple internal parts to be considered a restoration.3. As with our refurbishments we also can provide re-painting of the light fixture housings to bring back that "new light feel".4. These lights in this condition will also be difficult to warranty as there is no guarantee of life in the product long-term.5. Most restored lights will be considered no higher than Code C after completion.6. If that old light, still sitting in the attic, is waiting on the second chance at shining over your tank again, let's give it that chance! Start by filling out the Free Estimate form.
Shipping
1. We wanted to provide a super simple method to shipping, you pay for shipping to us, we pay for shipping to you. For instance, you request for the light to be repaired, it's approved and you mail it in. After completion of repairs, the only thing you have to worry about is receiving the light.2. One major concern for people is damages during shipment. At The Salty Bean we bring well packaged lights to the table. However, this does not guarantee safe delivery. As some shipping companies seem to allow deliveries of packages that look like they were sent through a meat grinder.3. We will take photos of your light pre and post service and email them to you. As well as photos of the light as it goes into its box with the receipt. This way we can both be certain, any damages were caused by the mail carriers.4. As such, all claims for damages during shipment will and must be taken up with the mail carrier directly.
Warranty
1. To preface, we do not warranty un-related faults or failures in a light to a prior service job.2. All warranties provided by The Salty Bean will begin on the day the package was marked "Delivered" by the mail carrier.3. Any light that we service and is completed in a Code A condition, will receive an automatic 60 day warranty. (This is the max warranty)4. Any light that we service and is completed in a Code B condition, will receive an automatic 30 day warranty.5. Any light that we service and is completed in a Code C or less condition will not receive an automatic warranty.5. Any light that we service can have a warranty added or extended for an extra fee.6. We will be more than happy to get started on a Free Estimate for you, we have a simple and easy form just below!
Condition Code
1. We use a simple 5 letter code for all lights we service. It helps us to determine the condition of the light and whether or not it can be repaired.2. This also allows us to ensure a higher quality product is returned than when it came in!Condition Code A: Anything in this category is either New or Used-Like NewCondition Code B: We consider these lights to be Used-GoodCondition Code C: A light in this category is considered Used-Fair or PoorCondition Code D: Anything here is considered "barely operational or severely degraded"Condition Code F: Lights in this category are considered "non-operational" or "un-repairable"3. Don't worry, most lights will start in either Code D or F. That's what I am here for, to bring those Ds or Fs up to at least a C preferably a B. That is what we want though, to see progress up the condition code ladder.4. We will also provide and keep track of your lights Condition Code at the beginning of service and the end of it's time in service.5. This will allow you to see over-time if your light is beginning to degrade and make the determination whether or not it may be time to replace it.
